“I often feel the term "craftsmen" is somewhat bereft of its true value in the modern era. However, to my mind, the (Barr Build) team really do justice to the great tradition of craftsmanship in demonstrating what can be achieved with skill, expertise and great ability. Superb!”
Heritage approved extension and modification
At Barr Build we see the considered extension and modification of a Listed residence as a means of celebrating its historic fabric and structure, whilst securing its future.
Barr Build's project teams have strong knowledge and experience of working under Listed buildings consents, using carefully specified bridging methods, including glazed links and other structural or material delineations, to protect the integrity of the property.
Historic buildings
The deployment of traditional heritage restoration techniques, such as the removal of detrimental, inappropriate retrofitted materials and replacement with heritage-approved alternatives (including limecrete floors, natural fibre insulation and lime plasterwork) has been a cornerstone of the Barr Build offering for over two decades.
Once a balance of breathability and airtightness is achieved, low-carbon technology can be deployed, making comfortable, modern living possible, whatever the properties' listing or heritage.
