“At Poundon House, the rapid deployment of a large cross-functional team enabled refurbishment works to commence immediately and complete according to a condensed project timeline.”
A project in chapters; the objective was to celebrate the estate's heritage, whilst preparing it, functionally and aesthetically, for its new custodians.
The estate’s main house refurbishment demanded the rapid mobilisation of a large cross-functional team, for the delivery of an intensive four-month programme of works. The scope included repair, refurbishment and redecoration across the 13,000 sq.ft of grand living space, set over three floors.
The Edwardian stable courtyard required significant structural repair work, including roofing, masonry, stonework and joinery repairs, before embarking on a high-specification fit-out. Working in collaboration with equine infrastructure specialists, multiple individual stables, tack-room, treatment room and horse shower, owners' lounge and menage were delivered, creating an exceptionally high-standard facility.
Staff accommodation was created through the re-modelling and refurbishment of existing dormered living space. Refurbishment of the ‘Gardener's Cottage’ provided further sympathetically modernised accommodation.
Elements of architectural note
The works were designed to respect the properties elegant Edwardian style and proportions, defined by high ceilings, ornate mouldings, glazing and panelling, sweeping staircases and deep sash windows.

Restoration of original architectural features included timber floors, doors and staircases, Edwardian chequerboard floor tiles, traditional panelling and decorative plaster work.
Carefully Curated
Swedish stoves and elegant Jamb light fittings were amongst the owner’s considered selection of functional and aesthetic fixings.
Authentically Modernised
Traditional Edwardian-style cabinetry and ironmongery were handcrafted for kitchens and bathrooms, ensuring authenticity and functionality.
