National Apprenticeship Week 2024

Empowering tomorrow's construction workers: Barr Build's apprenticeship journey

National Apprenticeship Week 2024

With a rich history of mentorship and training, Barr Build continues to empower apprentices, shaping them into proficient tradespeople and future leaders within the organisation.

National Apprenticeship Week 2024 provides a platform to spotlight our ongoing commitment to our apprenticeship programme. The apprentices are Jake Matthews, Joe Binnee, Josh Barr, and Toby Kearney, apprentice carpenters stationed at various Barr Build projects. Their journey epitomises our dedication to providing hands-on training and structured learning experiences, ensuring apprentices are equipped with the skills and qualifications necessary for success.

At the core of our apprenticeship initiative lie the Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery at Buckinghamshire College Group, and the Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeship programme, conducted in collaboration with Abingdon & Witney College's Bicester Construction Skills Centre. These comprehensive programmes emphasise a blend of practical training and academic coursework, underpinned by dedicated mentorship from experienced professionals within the organisation.

Apprentice carpenters Jake Matthews and Joe Binnee are stationed at a Barr Build project in north Oxfordshire.

The success stories of past apprentices serve as inspirational milestones, highlighting the transformative impact of our mentorship and training approach. These individuals, once apprentices themselves, now hold esteemed positions within the organisation, underscoring the long-term benefits of investing in apprenticeship programmes.

“Every day on site is an opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to something big. I'm grateful for the mentorship and support.”
Jake Matthews, Apprentice Carpenter

Looking ahead, we remain steadfast in our vision to nurture talent and drive innovation within the construction industry.
