For over two decades Barr Group has had the privilege of training countless amazing apprentices, who have gone on to become skilled tradespeople. Many have become apprentice mentors themselves, as well as the site managers of our organisation today. Barr Group is first and foremost about people, and our apprenticeship scheme plays a fundamental role; passing the values of attention to detail, doing things differently and caring for our environment, which are embodied by employees across the organisation. Who are we looking for?
Individuals who are determined, hardworking, reliable, and ready for the world of work. An eye for detail, an appreciation of design-led construction and ambition to learn to build with excellence. Your own transport (apprentices could be based on any of our sites, usually within a 20-mile radius of Thame).
What does a Barr Group apprenticeship offer?
A full-time position within the company, during which the apprentice gains hands on experience combined with structured learning. The goal of our two- or three-year apprenticeship programme is a Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ qualification, specialising in bricklaying, site carpentry or decorating, as well as achieving the status of a valued skilled tradesperson within the organisation.
Programme structure:
- Four days a week working on site.
- One day a week at college.
Barr Group apprentices are supported by:
- A dedicated mentor (usually a site manager or an experienced skilled tradesperson).
- A wider team who want you to succeed and are on hand to help.
What else:
- A fun company events program, including weekly HIT classes, afterwork footie, summer and Christmas parties, and much more.
- A competitive apprentice employment package.

Already booked for next year, this one is fast becoming an annual fixture – and definitely the “funnest” way to spend a Sunday morning!

Faster than digger or dumper driving and more adrenalin-fuelled than a pub night. A chance to blow a few cobwebs away!
6/8 PUB DRINKS
Sometimes it is great to just catch up for a relaxed afterwork drink or two.
7/8 Junkyard Golf
There is a 10-year-old in us all and sometimes they just want to win.
8/8 Bowling & Pizza
Smells like team spirit! Another chance for some healthy competition!
