Roell House
West Berkshire
PROJECT TYPE: Direct to Client
ARCHITECTURE: STL ARCHITECTURE
PROJECT MANAGEMENT / INTERIOR DESIGN: Client
OVERVIEW: Works at Roell House were to restore and enhance the fabric and usability of this Grade II-listed country residence. Plans by STL Architecture were drawn up with the aim of conserving the historic character of the building, both externally and internally, whilst sensitively delivering a scheme which would facilitate modern everyday living for the family. As such, plans included not only major structural refurbishments, but also essential improvements to the thermal capacity of the building, a full electrical and mechanical overhaul, and heritage-approved specialist finishes throughout. In addition, interventions included two significant single-storey extensions and several careful opening adaptations, executed in line with heritage-approved planning permissions and Historic England guidelines.
